Host Your Own Webpage

If you would like to put a website on to the internet then you will need a hosting provider. There are a few steps involved in creating your own website; first off you will need to buy a domain name. Once you have a name for your site, there is literally hundreds of sites you can choose to register your domain name, you will need to set the DNS settings so that your domain name points to your new host.

When deciding on a hosting provider to host your own webpage, you need to take into account things such as how reliable is your host. Do they give 24 hour support; most of the top companies give live 24 hour support. Obviously you would like a cheap host, but you pay for what you get, but you can expect to pay between $7 to $10 per month.

Other things to take into consideration are how many domain names you can host on 1 account, can you have an email address associated with the account. Reputable companies also allow bulk email sending, if you decided to set up an email list.

Another important feature I think people need when deciding to host your own webpage, is the hosting interface. You need an interface that is user friendly, so that you can navigate your way around with ease.

A good point to remember also is when you choose your host, make sure that it has Fantastico as one of its features, because Fantastico supports WordPress, which is the most widely used platform for building your website.

Clicking on Fantastico in your host once your domain name has been added, automatically sets up your basic website for you to build, very useful feature indeed. So that's it basically, buy a domain name from a registrar, and change the DNS so that it points to your new hosting company. Install WordPress through your host, using Fantastico. And start building whatever you want.

Managed Hosting for Business Growth and Development

When an online business grows so large that it needs a significant amount of bandwidth in order to keep the functionality of the website, then it is time to look into a managed dedicated server in order to ensure the space and bandwidth it needs. This makes the website more reliable and less prone to crashing, which will lose you both clients and income.

However, there is a downside to this upgrade. Now, server administration will fall to you and it is a time-consuming task, especially when there is a system failure and you need to get the website up asap. However, there is such a thing as managed hosting to help you out. An option that is offered by the dedicated server, it will handle all these problems for you - and more - for a price. This is not an inexpensive option, but it is more cost-effective than you hiring a full-time IT specialist or losing money while you try to tinker with the system. In fact, managed hosting does more for you that be a safety net: it monitors your site 24/7 and provides you with a report of any problems. They solve your problems as well: they can actually modify the software and applications to make it fit better to how your clients use your website. They also keep you safe by updating your security programs and also by providing back-up in case of complete systems failure.

This back-up extends to customer support day and night, year round. So, even if your site crashes at 2AM, there is someone on the ground taking care of you. What does all that do for your business? Well, you have effectively outsourced your IT support to the people that do control your hosting services, which is a logical problem-solver. These people have the expertise that enable them to take care of your problems and also to prevent them, which saves money at the same time. They also know about the hosting services in and out, which can save time as well. Having a superbly-functioning website is something that will improve the sales, customer interaction, and ease of use, which all result in higher traffic and a better bottom line. There's no better way to grow a business.

Utropicmedia was formed over a decade ago to channel innovation and create a leader in managed services. Our target market is businesses looking for premier IT performance and reliability to support their growth with managed hosting. Direct Sales Tips - 5 Host Coaching Rules For Holidays

As the Holiday selling season rolls into full swing, I hear from clients even more about the biggest fear most direct sales consultants face: being pushy.

With your hosts being busier, it becomes even more important to stay in contact with them. Yet, time and again, consultants come to me asking about the best way to do it without appearing pushy.

Here's the thing, hosts need you to stay in contact with them. You may be booking parties further out (and I hope you are!), which means if you want shows to hold, you need a contact plan to keep your hosts on track.

This is where most of you will fall down. It's

In direct sales, the phrase "host coaching" has an ominous cloud around it. Frankly, a better word for it is host training.

I've learned in life (and in direct sales) that you train people how to treat you by the behavior you tolerate from them. Expect better to get better.

Here are 5 tips I use to help train my hosts in having the best show possible:

1. Book the show early. During the holidays, you'll be more likely to book 4-5 weeks out, because holiday schedules are jammed. In all honesty, I've had better results all year long when I book 4-5 weeks out, but host training is the key to navigating a calendar booked that far in advance.

2. Have a plan for contact. Contact points can cause interruption in the host's day, which is what makes you "feel pushy." If you have a planned a series of contact points, hosts will feel like they're getting just enough contact from you, but not too much. For best results, direct sales consultants should plan on no more than 5-6 contacts in a 2 week period, using a variety of contact methods (phone, facebook, email, direct mail). As you're booking further out, plan on about 10-12 contact times in a 30 day period. That's about every 2-3 days, which is why you don't want every contact to be a phone call. Plus, by reaching out in different ways, you're more likely to show up on her radar. If her email's down,  or her phone is off, you can still catch her via regular mail.

3. Communicate the plan. Each time you reach out to contact your host, let her know when and how you'll be reaching out to her next. In your email, tell her you'll be calling in a couple of days. On the phone, let her know you'll send her a message on face book next. That way, she's expecting to hear from you, which holds you accountable, and gives her "warning" about your next mode of contact.

4. Use an "Early Warning System". I have a firm policy in place that keeps me from having too many open dates on my calendar. My Early Warning System has two "red flag" devices that keep me in control of my calendar. One of them is the guest list. Hosts have three days to return the guest list to me. If they mail it, it must be postmarked within three days. If the guest list isn't received by day three, a call is made to remind the host that the show will be rescheduled if I don't have it by day six. On day six, if there is still no guest list (or contact from my host), I call to reschedule the show. Simply put, this red flag lets me know how serious she is about hosting. If your host won't call you back to let you know when to expect the guest list, she's more likely to flake out. This way, you've only lost 6 days, and if you're booking 4-5 weeks out, you can still fill that open spot during one of you upcoming shows.

5. Make your host part of the team. For a truly profitable and successful show, direct sales consultants need to stop looking at hosts as an employer. Your host is your business partner for the duration of the time between the booking and closing the show. Treat her as such, and expect her to act as such. Train her on the proper words to say when someone's RSVP is "unable to attend". Be honest with her about why you want guests to bring friends - more people means a more successful show for HER (and you!). The more she can see behind the veil, the more she'll realize what's in it for her.

Bonus tip: Close the party the night of the show. This isn't just a holiday tip, but one you should implement in your business throughout the year. Every contact with your host should help increase your bottom line, and going back to the scene of the party to close the show at a later date will end up costing more than you'll earn. Besides, if you're training your hosts all along, they'll be ready to close the show when it's party time.

Building Geographical Niche Communities

Seven Years In The Making

Desire has burned in me since 2004, long before Facebook and Twitter and MySpace were common household terms, the passionate desire to create a vibrant online "geographical" community mirror. This community would build upon the activities and interests of those living in, or connected to, a specific local geographical area. This could be a city or a town or even a larger region.

If "practice makes perfect" - well, I must be coming a regular Einstein! The truth is not so glamorous, though. I have started a bunch of local niche communities that have merely fizzled out, and this article is about giving to those who have a similar interest, an account of my experiences as an online community developer. In doing this, perhaps someone else can be positively influenced from this account of my experiences, and avoid a few of the pitfalls expressed here, or try a new twist on something that I previously attempted.

With the People, By the People, and For the People

This online location (domain) would be a website developed to; effectively communicate, receive and broadcast information, and accurately express the character of the culture, the people, organizations, and special interests of a local region in "real time", 24/7.

Let's build a communication tower that begs us all to have a local voice, that others might also be encouraged to participate, a place where everyone can be seen and heard from. My hope is that a project like this would help to build a spirit of unity, and raise the desire of people to become more involved in their local area. We don't know, what we don't know, so lets build the tower together, for the purpose of sharing our best with our neighbors and friends.

A community such as this would need to involve the business community, non-profit groups, youth organizations, religious groups, clubs, leagues, schools, and the list goes on.

Pitfall # 1 - Ongoing Community Participation

Getting people to participate one time is hard enough, getting them to engage themselves in a regular activity over an extended period of time has been a huge challenge for me. I'm still working on the science of this one. This challenge lies in understanding and effecting psychological changes that effect community behavior. So, we not only need to become technically efficient, but also (to an extent) psychologists as well!

There is no website technology designed to do what relationships were intended to do. The online community experience is relationship dependent. Having said that, the first step is to get "groups" to agree to use the community platform. That is actually the easy part for me. I am a sales professional, so I can build the initial enthusiasm that some technical types might be challenged with.

For me, getting people to do something one time is a bit easier than influencing them on a deep enough level, to such an extent that new habits can be formed, and a community experience becomes a desired daily activity.

The psychology of the community experience really is the critical element that I have seen as not only possible to understand, but also something that can be measured and tracked. The online "local niche" community really is destined to become tomorrows reality. Yet, it remains my most difficult hurdle.

That's not to say that I have mastered it! No phone calls, please. I'm not your knight in shinning armor. Community website development is a technical service, an art, and a professional practice, all rolled into one. I am merely a practitioner, and a student of my profession, sharing my experiences with you.

Geographical Niche

When I started building community websites in 2004, I built those sites with the hope that I could enable others to write online, and encourage them to actually do it without being "prodded" or pushed. I started with the church community - a "targeted" local niche. This community (of pastors), seemed to be excited about the notion that local churches could all be found on one Web site (hub), where they would keep the public informed about the happenings in their church. Churches signed on (for free), but then became silent. The project was dropped in 2005 due to my failure to see the psychological needs of their community experience.

In 2006, I created a business community site (phase ll). I sold annual memberships in the $200 range. Businesses bought the memberships, but seldom logged onto the site, and fewer actually contributed content.

My solution was to rebuild the site 18 months later, raise the price to $500, and provide buy-down incentives for content writing and referrals. The more active the member, the lower the membership cost - they could even buy down the following year's cost all the way to $0. Memberships were sold, but even the incentives didn't engage the members to become active contributors. The site was dropped in 2009. Again, I failed to see the psychological needs of their community experience.

Part of the missing psychology in the past was that community members had no basis of comparison to other similar experiences. No instance to draw an understanding of value or potential benefit from. Here it is, late in 2010, and I'm at it again. But now there is a difference. It's called social networking.

People of all ages are logging into community sites and writing in a blogging format. Sites like Facebook have popularized content writing for the average American. Hey, it's not so scary anymore. Anyone can do it, and it's free!

We, as developers can learn simply by following some of the psychology that Facebook and other social networks employ to draw users into their community, and keep them there, and using the services they provide over, and over again.

Better yet - now we have the technology to bring these social networks right into our websites, even using our members' preferred social network as a method to login to our site! Wow - things have changed since 2004, haven't they?

Choosing WordPress

Our current model is a Web site for the town of Winchendon, Massachusetts. Instead of using the Joomla! framework for content management that I have always used in the past, I'm going with WordPress. There are several valid reasons for this, but the shift to this new platform has required me (since the beginning of this year) to study blogging, search engine optimization, videography, and content writing in the WordPress environment. I have launched close to twenty sites in the past few months for the sake of practice alone.

Remember what I said about the psychological advantages of "similar experiences"? WordPress is easy to post on, and easy for others to comment on. It's clean and neat, and search engines love it. AND... many are already familiar with it!

Technically speaking - Add-on functionality is packaged into simple options called "plugins". Hey that's not so difficult! If you want to place something in a side column, those boxes are called "widgets". Imagine! Simple, easy to use, and free (for the most part).

WordPress is hostable, meaning that I can host it on my server and add more functionality, and I own it. I can install it in the cpanel (Linux) with fantastico, and I can create a new instance in any sub-domain, as many as I need. But in this case, I'm using the multi-user functionality (you need to add a script for this). OK - I lost some of you, so let me simplify...

Customized Blogging Network

As Facebook and other social networks become a common experience, we as developers can take advantage of this "learned behavior" in the creation of our own online community experience. Yahoo!, Google, MSN - all the big boys have blogging networks... familiar, familiar, familiar! Did I say familiar?

The value in developing communities using WordPress, is that our communities are now able to attract and keep people with common experiences, as well as people have who are already blogging online somewhere else.

Gratitude Is The Catalyst That Makes Big Things Happen In Our Lives

Gratitude is the powerful tool in our lives that we can use to fight any negativity that steals our peace. Everyday before you sleep be thankful and the first thing you do in the morning be thankful. You will see the change in your life. Some of us see life passes us just like that because we do not see the blessings of life. We are very fortunate. Like me being a South African 2010 meant a lot for me and my friends, but most of them did not see it. The beginning of 2009, they were excited, seeing it coming. First time in their backyards, world class football, they said. In October they were involved in fatal accident.

They were just few months before the dream that they carried for years after it was announced that South Africa was the host. For me when that day arrived and I saw it happening alive I became grateful. Maybe you do not share the same passion like me but I am trying to say just being alive we can be grateful for that. Maybe as you read this you are on a comfort of your beautiful place and do you know that there are some people who just want to have drinking water? Some walk a mile to get drinking water with a bucket on their heads. Yet we complain. I understand sometimes we have the hole that no material thing can fill. You tried many things but the more you fill the more you become empty. No money or fame can fill that but only You, can fill that hole. You have it inside you. You can be grateful and fill the hole in your live by-

1.Love Yourself.-You are the most beautiful and adorable person. Just being able to read this that means you are gifted with the most powerful tool, your Mind.It is powerful than any computer. You are blessed with many talents. Just in a day stop and count your talents, i believe there are many. Be grateful for them.
2.Love Life.-Life is beautiful. Love it, look around and see the beauty of it. The smile of the child, the birds and creation as whole makes life wonderful. I grew under difficult circumstances but the moment i learned to be grateful life started to be worth living. You also can do that to yourself. Be like a little child, bring the excitement of innocence you were born with. Guilt is one of the things that takes away our joy. Remember what is done is done, you cannot undo the past but you can learn from them. The past cannot deprive you of happiness today, be grateful and see whilst life becomes joyful.
3. Have A Light Heart. Laugh at yourself, do not take yourself too serious. Relax and go with the flow of life. People sometimes will hurt you very much do not make their words bring the cloud of unforgiveness in your heart. Protect your heart by forgiving.

Wishing you the best in this wonderful life.

Need Someone to Make Me a Website! The Secret to a Free Website in 2 Steps!

If you often feel that I need someone to make me a website then chances are that you have searched for people who will help you build your dream website. Since not many companies help people build free websites the best option for you is to follow these easy steps and build your own website.

Make your own website using blogs

Blog websites like Blog Spot allow people to make their own websites on their domain. These blogging websites give you your own space to place adverts, post articles or any information that you want to display. Although Blog Spot is a good blogging website, Word Press is often preferred over Blog Spot by many people. Word press has many attractive templates and this website is easy to use. The only problem people encounter while using blogging websites like Word Press or Blog Spot is that these websites provide a generic domain name after your unique id. An instance of your website domain on Blog Spot would be your unique id followed by Blog Spot.com or org. These domains can be hard to remember and they look unprofessional to most people.

Making the most out of Word Press templates

If you often feel that I need someone to make me a website then you should consider using Word Press templates. These attractive and easy to use templates can make your page interesting and the hosting packages allow you to choose your own domain name. A hosting package is very important while making your website since a hosting name allows people to land at your website with ease. These hosting packages are very reasonable and they cost only $7 - $8 a month.

Most people who feel that I need someone to make me a website often opt for hosting packages since these packages allow website owners to choose their own independent domain name.

Web Hosting Considerations For Beginners - Windows Or Linux

The most common form of web hosting taken up by most newcomers to the web is know as shared hosting. This entails buying space on one of the web servers of the web hosting firm, where each web server may contain several other websites from other account holders.

The two most popular operating system software setups used on shared hosting web servers are the linux/apache and Windows 2003/IIS6 setups. There are several other software packages installed on each web server, but the operating system and the web server software are the most critical. The choice between these two setups usually always defines what software can be installed on the web servers hardware, and what you, the website developer, can utilize in developing your site.

Linux , an open source operating system, together with Apache an open source web server software package, are generally considered to be part of what is termed the LAMP systems. The other components are MySQL and Php. These software packages are generally available free of charge for personal or business use.The companies that supply these products offer extra value addons for which they charge. The majority of commercially available website software packages have been developed on and for LAMP systems. These systems are immensely stable and have been debugged extensively by the programming community that supports them. There is an enormous amount of recorded information available for you to search for, lots of people to ask questions if you need to. Forums are useful places to get both free and chargeable support. If you select a web server based on Linux/apache, you will have all these resources available to you and be able to develop your site along these lines for as long as you keep the site on a LAMP system. However, you will not be able to use most of the Microsoft based technologies.

Windows 2003 server together with IIS6 forms the Microsoft windows web hosting environment. This is now embedded in the Microsoft .net platform. Microsoft needs no introduction as the dominant desktop PC software supplier for going on 2 decades. Microsoft .net which now underpins Microsoft web technology ,is a proprietary Microsoft Technology. The technology is embedded in all Microsoft operating systems from windows 2000 upwards, plus Microsoft office, Microsoft developer tools and some other Products beyond the scope of this article. In fact, It will probably be embedded in any product produced with Microsoft technology.

The windows web server environment is extremely popular with programmers and web developers who developed their skills on Microsoft technologies such as Visual basic , possibly the most popular programming language in the world, Visual C , C++, C#. There are significantly fewer commercial web packages available for Microsoft .net web servers. This maybe due to the fact that LAMP servers dominate the internet, plus the cost of operating .net web software.

However, the .net platform is enormously capable and comes with many rapid development features built in . Many corporates develop their sites using these technologies and get remarkable results, very quickly. Microsoft provides what may be the world largest knowledge archive to support its product and access is easy , well though out and quick. Plus these are lots of online and off line experts willing and able to provide paid and free support to the novice or experienced web developer.

Both of these options are valid choices, and the choice made by the novice web developer must be determined by personal circumstance. I use both systems and can only say that when configured properly, both can be a joy to work with.

Due to the availability of free or commercial scripts, the none technical novice who simply wants to publish online will probably start of with the Linux/apache setup.

For the vb.net/vb/excel programmer who has ideas to develop, a .net server is the straight forward choice. Whichever you chose, have fun!
