How to Find the Right Web Hosting Company

I don't know about you but I have been in this situation more than once. You sit by your desk and get an idea of a website that you would like to build. Maybe it's just a personal or family website or maybe it is a business website. It doesn't really matter as both are sites that you would like to have online fast and be able to access where ever when ever.

So after building your content (or some of it) and deciding on what domain you think would fit your website then you come to on of the tasks that I have personally had a lot of difficulties in dealing with. That is the choice of the company to host your new website.

If you are completely new to this then I suggest that you go visit Google and try searching for "web hosting". At the time of this article there are 214 million pages competing for the term. So how are you supposed to pick the right one? Well at first I didn't have a clue my self.

One option would be to go through the first ten or twenty web hosts and pick the one that you feel has the solution you are looking for. But what if two or more of them offer the same solution? Do you go for the lowest price, the best service or is it something else that will trigger the decision?

Luckily there is some clever people that has already found out that this is more than the average person can cope with and they have therefore create the site called FindMyHosting.com. When I first started building websites I didn't know of this site but boy it would have save me a lot of time looking for the right host.

At first the site might look a bit confusing because of all the information gathered in one place. However if you focus on the middle section of the site you will quickly find that they have a searc option where you can choose between Country, Monthly Price, Hosting Platform, Disk Space, Data Transfer Limits and Number of E-mail accounts.

This is basic stuff for the experienced website builder, but if you are one of those I'm sure you already have a favorite web host and then you don't need to go look for a new one. But as a newbie the basic stuff is mostly more that enough to make a fair choice of a new web hosting solution.

If you are on a low budget you can find hosting solutions down to $1.50 a month. Companies like InMotion Hosting and 3Essentials offer hosting solutions for $1.50 a month with about 1GB of storage space, 10GB of traffic, 15 e-mail accounts etc. Now this seems like great solutions for a new person launching a website.

BUT... before you make the final choice of web hosting company you must take some time to search the internet for information about this company and their solutions. Use Google to find out what other people think of their solutions, their support and their general business ethics.

Personally I would never choose a host based solely on price. Make sure you go with a web host that other people have had good experiences dealing with. If you can find any positive comments or even any comments I suggest that you move on to the next one. It might be a new company and who knows whether they will be here in one or two years?

Cheap Reliable Web Hosting and Free Traffic

The internet, and making money online, can be very daunting for someone without experience of how it all works. It can also be expensive to set things up unless you're prepared to do a lot of the work yourself. Once you've been around the block a few times you begin to realise that the internet is not so hard and in fact there is a way that you can operate that will cost you next to nothing. This is completely legal and your maximum exposure is $2 for a domain name. This includes reliable free web hosting and free traffic.

You may believe, regardless of the products you want to sell, that you need a state of the art website to get started. Nothing could be further from the truth. There is no doubt that an attractive and well written site helps, but for someone starting out with very little money this is usually not an option. This common misconception is probably the one thing that prevents many people from even starting what can become a lucrative career.

Let's assume you're just starting out and want the easiest, cheapest, way in. You can't afford to buy traffic, you need it for free. Although your own web presence, a domain name of your own, is beneficial, you can start out with zero cost and no domain or hosting of your own at all. How can we do that?

First job is to find something to sell. This could be information products or physical products. I do a lot of both. If you want to sell ebooks go to ClickBank.com. They have thousands of products and it costs nothing to join. For physical products Amazon.com is very popular. Once you have chosen your first product visit Squidoo.com and join for free. Squidoo gives you the opportunity to create your own webpage which they host for free. Spend some time looking around Squidoo, it's very easy to use and the results look very professional. Squidoo has built in Amazon access where you can literally open your own shop selling hundreds of products. There is also access to sales through eBay and others.

Now how about the free traffic I mentioned earlier? Well, if you've done your new Squidoo page you've already started! Squidoo is such a dynamic site that Google visits it several times a day to see what's changed and lists what it finds in the search engine. Google will take your title, list it, and if someone types in your title, or part of it, you will probably find yourself listed on page one of the Google search and it will cost you nothing at all. Best of all Squidoo allows you to check the 'health' of your page and will automatically advise you how to improve it. There is more about this on my website where I discuss other easy methods of getting absolutely free traffic to your products sales page

Twitter is a good source of free traffic and article writing is excellent. Again this is covered in more detail on my site.

Once you start to see results and are encouraged, it's time to get yourself your own $2 domain name, then you can really start to build a following in your own right. Squidoo gets paid for what it gives you by effectively splitting any commission you earn 50/50. You get half and so do they. Let's face it, you've had a totally free ride so far and lots of help, so it is fair. By getting your own domain name you can choose one, or several products you're selling on Squidoo and get all the commission yourself without having to share it. There is no reason to remove that product from Squidoo because it's costing you nothing anyway. You just get two bites of the cherry!

The link below is to my website. The domain name you'll visit cost me less than $2 and for the first year the web hosting is absolutely free. All traffic to this site is generated completely free of charge. If, at the end of the free year, for whatever reason, I choose not to continue the site I don't have to renew it or pay for further hosting. What do I stand to lose? $2!
On my site I show you how to promote your new domain name without even having to do any work on it, no site building, nothing. So there you are:

Cheap Reliable Web Hosting.

What's Involved in Good Web Hosting?

Be sure you know your terms so you can know what you're looking for. A web host owns (or rents) the computer that serves the files of your Web site to your visitors, usually in exchange for a monthly fee. You don't have to cancel your current Internet account to hire a Web host. In fact, many Web hosts don't offer Internet service provider (ISP) service. Those that do need to be local, or it isn't worth it for you. The great thing about your neighborhood ISP is that it's in your neighborhood, and it gives you a local dial-up number. You don't want to have to dial in to Albuquerque whenever you want to browse the Web (unless, of course, you live in Albuquerque).

Most shared web hosts seem affordable in price but the quality can vary drastically. As far as costs are concerned, you might want to take a look at hosting companies that offer some kind of multiple domain shared hosting plans. With these kind of plans, you can host hundreds, if not infinite domains on one shared account. After the first domain is setup, all consequential domains setup afterwards would be considered an add-on domain of the first domain. But as far as the internet is concerned, they are separate websites. It may not have the same advantages as having your very own dedicated server, but you'll be saving about $50 a month with the difference.

And what about "discount" web hosting? Like anything else, if it seems too good to be true, it definitely is here. A lot of people are looking for a lower and affordable web hosting solution online, and discount web hosting should be a great choice here. There are many different types of discount are available online, get to know the time and how to redeem for it is the key for you to get a better price without losing the reliability of the solution.

After skipping from one host to another, this service is the one I finally settled with. Prompt customer service is important to me, and the prices are great, so after a bunch of bad experiences that's the only one I can recommend right now.

Critical Steps of Buying Domain Names Made Easier

All people who use internet or have online business are aware of domain name term. It gives online identification to any business and creates its existence. Domain name can be some name, letters or words combination, etc provided it has to be unique and not copy, as no two domain names are similar. Every website that is present online has its own web address. Before designing a website people register for the domain names so that it can be used in future.

For any online business, it should be having web address that is in their business name, it makes the customers do business dealings with your company. Registration of domain name is the first thing that is done when a site is developed. Decide on the options of most suitable names for your website and check for its availability. If the selected name is available, you have to pay some fees for registering it. If not then go for some other domain name.

Therefore webmasters always recommend having options of more than one domain name while buying them, so that if one is not available you can go for second option. Domain auctions are also used by many people to get themselves a domain name. Here an auction is carried out online where different types of domain names are sold at different rates. In order to buy a particular domain name you have to bid the highest amount for that. After that you need to pay some fees for domain registration which is usually there for one year, and you can renew it before its expiry.

Choose a quality domain name for your website, as it enhances your appeal and value on internet. Some people might afford to shell out hefty sum of money for an exclusive domain name, whereas some have fixed budget. You can find cheap domain registrations after some research.

Keep it simple which is easy to recall and remember for the people. Try to your company's name or any specific keyword in it so that it has higher viewership and brand recognition.

Select a domain name that is short and not lengthy, however you may find it difficult to find such simple names for your website as many other website owners might have already taken it. Avoid using numbers, punctuation marks or words combination as they don't score well with the people.

Top 10 Web Hosts - How Rankings are Determined

If you have ever searched the internet for information on web hosting, you have probably come across sites that list out the top 10 companies, or something similar. Although these top 10 web hosts pages are good to read, you need to make sure that you do not rely on them too much. The fact of the matter is that these rankings are made up by people just like you. Although they may know more about the industry than you, when it comes down to it, what they say is not always the end all. This is not to say that you should avoid these top 10 web host rankings, but you should not hang your hat on them. They should be used as a starting point as well as a place for you to gather information.

When you find a site that offers the top 10 web hosts you are probably interested in learning how these are rankings are determined. After all, the scoring system will go a long way in you deciding whether or not you should move forward with taking their opinions to heart. While each website has their own way of ranking the contenders, there are some details that are sure to stay the same across the board.

First off, price is always considered when it comes to top 10 web host lists. But just because price is considered, it does not mean that low prices always come out on top. In fact, this may not have anything to do with the rankings. Instead, top 10 web hosts look at the price in relation to what you will receive. This is important, because different companies offer different packages and services. And as you can imagine, a basic web hosting package is going to cost much less than a dedicated server; this is just the way that the industry works.

In addition to price, the features that are offered are also looked at in depth. These features include disk space, bandwidth, POP email accounts, scripting, database offerings, and much more. Some of these features may be more important to you than others; this is only natural. So once again, you need to make sure that you do not take what you read too seriously. Instead, you should consider what host offers the features that you are most interested in, regardless of where they are ranked on a top 10 list.

When searching for a web hosting company it is always good to get an idea of which ones are supposed to be the best. Just remember, the ones that make this list are not necessarily going to be perfect for what you need. The only way that you can make the right decision is to scour several top 10 web host lists, and also search in other areas such as directories. Then and only then will you have all the information you need to make an informed decision.

Ten Steps And Eight Days To Google Indexing Your Site

I am certainly not an expert but a website I recently started working on made a new record appearance(for me) on Google. I built the first page for this site on a Saturday and the following Saturday afternoon the home page showed up in the Google index.

Ten Steps to the Google Index

First I created 5 original pages. I then took 5 pages from EzineArticles and posted them on my new website. All of these pages are related to the same theme. March 31, 2007

Create a Links Page

Next I created a links page and linked to several websites in the same local vicinity of my website. March 31, 2007

Create a Sitemap

I built a site map of my site with links to all of my pages on the site. I linked from all of the pages on the site to my home page and to my site map. March 31, 2007

Verify with Google

Next I verified the site with my Google account. I went to Google Webmaster Tools and followed the directions on how to verify my site. It took about 10 minutes. It is a simple process. April 1, 2007

Build a Sitemap.xml

Next I built a site map --Sitemap.xml-- I searched on Google for "how to build a Site map" and found a site that built my Sitemap for me. I built a general web site map with an .xml ending. April 1, 2007

Build a Sitemap.xml page

Next I loaded my Sitemap.xml onto my website. I named the page "Sitemap.xml". April 1, 2007

Google accepted Sitemap

Next I put my Sitemap.xml URL in the box in Google webmaster tools. I checked the next day and Google had accepted it. April 1, 2007

Submit Articles

Next I submitted an article to EzineArticles.com. One of the articles I wrote for my website I submitted. I changed the links on a couple of articles that had already been accepted by Ezine Article to include links to my new website. 3 links. April 1-3, 2007

Links on another Website

I have another website that I put two links onto that is in the same industry as the new website. This other website is not highly rated by Google in fact none of the pages have a page rank above zero. I thought it couldn't hurt so I dropped in a couple of links. 2 more links April 3, 2007

EBAY Auction Link

I also put a link to my new website on two of the auctions I am running on eBay. 2 more links. April 3, 2007

Checking for the Domain to Appear in the Google Index

On the morning of the seventh day it did not appear but several of the links that I had posted on EzineArticles showed up. I kept checking for the domain name on Google. Saturday afternoon seven days and 16 hours after I first listed mydomainname.Googlepages.com, the home page of my new website popped up as I searched for it. I am not linking to the website in this article because I don't want this article to impact the website traffic. The search shows Google has 180,000 pages in their index with the two words that I used in the title of my new free twowords.Googlepages.com. My new website showed up as number two. 4/7/2007

Google Webmaster Tools

I checked my Google Webmaster Tools on the 7th and the Google website did not show any pages indexed even though one of the pages was showing up in the index. Checking in Google Tools on 4/8/2007 it showed my homepage as having been indexed on 4/6/2007.

Everything I did in reference to this website I have listed here. I am amazed because I have had websites take months to finally make it to the Google Index. I plan on putting more pages on my new website and growing it. I will write updates on this websites progress on my Googlepages.com/eightdaystogoogleindex">Web Hosting 2055 website regularly if you are interested.

I am going to log all actions I am taking on the website as I do them.

4/8/2007 put link in Googlepages forum to the new website. As of today the website has 14 total pages counting sitemaps.

4/10/2007 I put more original pages up. Total now 24 pages. Still only one page in the Google Index.

FrontPage Problem, FrontPage Fix

I recently ran into a snag on my page that I built with FrontPage. Let me tell you about it and how easy it was to fix. Before I go into that, let me say that I have heard that FrontPage is easily hacked and therefore the one guy I heard that from did not recommend FrontPage for creating a website. This guy happened to be a Mom and Pop website host - as opposed to the big guys such as Bluehost (whom I recommend and who hosts my websites). This guy did not have a setup for FrontPage, the "FrontPage Extensions" which allows FrontPage users to decently publish a site. It may be possible to publish FrontPage without FrontPage Extensions, but you wouldn't want to. Look, if you are a little guy, maybe you don't have FrontPage extensions. Then you can tell me what's wrong with FrontPage and that you don't recommend it. If you are a big guy, such a Bluehost, you have FrontPage Extensions. So there. Plenty of us web savvy folk use FrontPage, so put the FrontPage Extensions in your hosting plan if you want our business.

Maybe the guy was right and FrontPage is easy to hack and I was hacked. This is the problem I ran into: My home page was taking FOREVER to load. I couldn't figure out why. Eventually, I get this error box when I try to open my home page. Yikes! No longer can I edit my home page. Still, when I was publishing, the home page was coming up, just taking forever to load, that's all. Well, when the error box came up I knew I needed to fix the problem. I couldn't open my home page in FrontPage. All I got was the error box. Bad, bad. Time to panic? No. Not that bad.

Friends and neighbors, this is not the huge, horrible mess that you think it is. You just get rid of the old home page and create a new one. That's right. You build a new page, proclaim that your home page, and you are good to go.

Now it so happens that Bluehost needs the home page file to call itself html when the file automatically calls itself htm. You have to change that and know that you need to change that. This, I knew. How did I know? Once upon a time I had to call Bluehost and find out why my home page wasn't coming up and that's what we figured out. You know, it's possible Bluehost - or some other host, for that matter - could have helped me with the issue I resolved myself - the home page taking forever to load issue. But I solved it without help, and more efficiently, I think.

So what you want to make sure about is that you regularly copy your website to a disk. Also, it may be a good idea to keep an updated file that is simply your home page. Keep that somewhere in its own folder on your computer. If for some unknown reason your home page starts acting up, you can always kill it and easily create a new page. Be sure you do kill the old home page. You DON'T want a copy of your home page floating around on your site, somewhere in the jumble of html that comprises your site. Why? Because, by doing so, you've copied your content, word for word and tag for tag. And you've done so with your home page of all things. Google will consider you are trying to pull a fast one and they could dump you. Yikes! So never exactly copy huge blocks of content anyway. But especially with your home page.

I didn't have a recent copy of my home page neatly tucked away in a file on my computer. I may do so now. What I did this time: Cautiously, I copied my home page from what I pulled up on the net. I just browsed to my home page and started copying it. Now I say "cautiously" because I didn't copy the whole thing at once. Maybe I would get the hacked bit of code that was screwing up my page in the first place. Maybe I was paranoid, but I felt slow and easy was the way this time. I copied bits of my home page and put it back together that way. This gave me also a chance to get to know my home page once again - because you forget. You know? The home page should have a lot of relevant copy on it, and you forget. Also, it is quite possible you update so often, that is you change your home page quite a bit, that you don't have it locked in your mind, and probably wouldn't want to. I don't know about you, but I don't want to have my home page seared on my brain. Too much. Way too much. How can you stick with webmastering your own pages if stuff like that happens? You burn out.

So I fixed the problem. My home page is a new page that looks just like the old page but loads quickly and has no error box when I try to edit it. The lesson here is twofold: 1. copy your files regularly and be orderly about that. 2. Don't freak out. Usually there is a fix. Often the fix is fairly easy, as it was here.

Good Avocado Host Review

In the modern world we're always being told to be more eco-friendly. We recycle more, buy energy efficient processors, power saving light bulbs, wash our clothes at a lower temperature so the next logical step online is to want an eco-friendly webhost! Now I can't say this is something I've ever thought I'd want in the past but the way I see it, if an eco-friendly host offers me the same service as a normal host and at the same time helps the environment, then I lose nothing by choosing them.

This is the logic that led me to try out Good Avocado. The folks over at Good Avocado promise that all of their hosting is completely carbon neutral, through the use of wind and solar power. What's more - they say they'll plant a tree every time an account is opened. As I said before, that isn't enough to sell a hosting company to me, they have to provide on features, price and customer support too.

In regards to the first, Good Avocado has a great set of features, the most impressive of which is their cluster technology. This allows the load of a high traffic site to be shared across many servers, allowing for a much improved response time. This is coupled with fantastic uptime - with no outages in my experiences with them. All plans are fully customizable and scalable thanks to the same technology meaning that the hosting can adapt as your circumstances adapt. Their monthly transfer offering is unlimited, which is certainly something of a rarity today. What is more, this is matched by unlimited disk space as well as MySQL databases. Just to make this feature set even more extraordinary - Good Avocado claims you can host an unlimited number of sites too.

Whilst this all seems fantastic, it does lead to big fears of overselling and I'm not sure if you push them on the unlimited nature of their hosting, how they will respond.

As for the price, Good Avocado certainly is not the cheapest at $4.95 for their basic solution. On top of that, they don't offer many features in terms of e-commerce so you would have to buy that individually which will simply push price up.

Finally, customer support really lets Good Avocado down, there is no email or even phone support and you're left to rely upon the knowledge base and support tickets.

So is the world ready for eco-friendly hosting? Well maybe but not with Good Avocado. However, if you are looking for an environmentally friendly hosting solution they do come through.

There are literally hundreds of Web Hosting companies out there and choosing the right one for your specific needs can be a daunting task.

Best Web Hosting Provider

I think that when you are talking about this, you can really say that there is no such thing as the best one company out there that provides this solution, because at the end of the day, what you are going to get is something that is better in some ways, but really does not give the whole package. Now, if we were living in the real world, one of the best ways that we can truly judge the Alpha and the Omega of the web host companies is to find one that is both the cheapest and the most technologically advanced of them all. Throw in some great customer service and the best tech support money can buy, then you would have the perfect and the best web hosting provider, but of course, this is both unrealistic because as people, we are limited by both our budget and our creativity, and these are the things that are going to help us decide what is the best fit for us, not what is the best across the board. So let us get on with the article, and of course, I hope, that at the end of the day, that all of this is going to help you out in your search.

The best way to spot them from far is to see just how many clients they have and what kind of websites they have under their wing. For me, one of the best was that you can judge one of these companies is that you are going to be able to know that they are able to handle even the toughest of jobs, even if your job is selling peanuts online, and this is really important if you want to gauge the kind of reliability you are going to be coming across. Now, the other thing that you might want to look at is of course, the sort of hardware that they have, and it is important to know that the machines are both top notch, and efficient, no matter the class and the responsibilities they might be holding. They could be supporting the backbone of a million page business web site, or they could be just hosting blogs, you need to know that not only can they do the job, but they are able to fit your needs into the picture as well.

While these are important things to know about, I think that one of the more important things to note down is how you are going to be able to communicate your very own needs to the company, and this means that the company needs to be able to listen to you, and this is very important at the end of the day, and this is how you are going to find out for yourself that the company that you are going to be engaging is the one that is going to take care of your needs from the top to the bottom.

Why Should You Go in For Managed Hosting Services?

When talking about managed hosting services, many people do not understand what the term means and they go for wrong choices when selecting their web hosting service plan. To make sure that you do not come under that category, it is always a better to do some research about it beforehand. The first and foremost thing you must know about your managed hosting services is all about what it means basically.

A managed hosting is a type of hosting service in which a client has the control over the entire server and the service provider are given the responsibility to take care of the server administration including the aspects like the choice of operating system and so on. This basic understanding is pretty much essential to decide whether to opt for it or not. For beginners and for those who have got no clue about what we are speaking till now, in simpler terms it means that you give your server into the agency's hands so that they take care of everything right from maintenance to security.

So, after this short introduction, if you have chosen this option then, welcome, now you are one of the many who stay without pressure of doing unknown tricky jobs. It would be a best option to hire these if you have a kind of business in which you deal with great traffic and at the same time need more disk space. Once you have taken this decision make sure that you choose the best service provider to sere the purpose well. Verify several times if they are well outfitted to meet any kind of problem that may pop up in future. It may be a power failure problem or some other technical glitch, imagine if they can hold your hand and take care of things while you are in the dark. You can ask them for contacts of companies for whom their services have been beneficial. In such a hunt, make sure to point out the disadvantages of them as advantages are not difficult to find out.

You choice of service provider must be made in such a way that they provide you support 24X7. Try to stay away from agencies that prey for ill-informed clients and never keep up what they promise while signing the contract. Some of the things that these companies will enable you to do with ease are running your mail server, messenger services, simultaneously; support various other applications on your website.

So, if you have a picture in your mind that Managed hosting services will suit you the best, and then what are you waiting for? Managed hosting is a one stop solution for all your hosting needs.
