The internet, and making money online, can be very daunting for someone without experience of how it all works. It can also be expensive to set things up unless you're prepared to do a lot of the work yourself. Once you've been around the block a few times you begin to realise that the internet is not so hard and in fact there is a way that you can operate that will cost you next to nothing. This is completely legal and your maximum exposure is $2 for a domain name. This includes reliable free web hosting and free traffic.
You may believe, regardless of the products you want to sell, that you need a state of the art website to get started. Nothing could be further from the truth. There is no doubt that an attractive and well written site helps, but for someone starting out with very little money this is usually not an option. This common misconception is probably the one thing that prevents many people from even starting what can become a lucrative career.
Let's assume you're just starting out and want the easiest, cheapest, way in. You can't afford to buy traffic, you need it for free. Although your own web presence, a domain name of your own, is beneficial, you can start out with zero cost and no domain or hosting of your own at all. How can we do that?
First job is to find something to sell. This could be information products or physical products. I do a lot of both. If you want to sell ebooks go to ClickBank.com. They have thousands of products and it costs nothing to join. For physical products Amazon.com is very popular. Once you have chosen your first product visit Squidoo.com and join for free. Squidoo gives you the opportunity to create your own webpage which they host for free. Spend some time looking around Squidoo, it's very easy to use and the results look very professional. Squidoo has built in Amazon access where you can literally open your own shop selling hundreds of products. There is also access to sales through eBay and others.
Now how about the free traffic I mentioned earlier? Well, if you've done your new Squidoo page you've already started! Squidoo is such a dynamic site that Google visits it several times a day to see what's changed and lists what it finds in the search engine. Google will take your title, list it, and if someone types in your title, or part of it, you will probably find yourself listed on page one of the Google search and it will cost you nothing at all. Best of all Squidoo allows you to check the 'health' of your page and will automatically advise you how to improve it. Once you start to see results and are encouraged, it's time to get yourself your own $2 domain name, then you can really start to build a following in your own right. Squidoo gets paid for what it gives you by effectively splitting any commission you earn 50/50. You get half and so do they. Let's face it, you've had a totally free ride so far and lots of help, so it is fair. By getting your own domain name you can choose one, or several products you're selling on Squidoo and get all the commission yourself without having to share it. There is no reason to remove that product from Squidoo because it's costing you nothing anyway. You just get two bites of the cherry!
